Nearly time…

Twenty hours to go. Eeeek!

Tomorrow we will be selling over 700 burgers and over 300 brownies to a crowd of roughly 5000 people at the Jozi Craft Beer Fest. That may not sound like a helluva lot, but when there’s just two of you shopping, prepping and planning it IS a helluva lot.

Brownies are baked, iced and packed. Burgers will be finished off this evening. Crates of rolls, lettuce, tomato and cheese are ready and waiting. Sixteen litres of mayonnaise still to be made. The most incredible (brand new) aprons have been made by Tame Custom Apparel. Business cards are ready and waiting with You&Me Design. Lists have been drawn up, checked off and rewritten. I’ve driven Ian mad with the lists and constant questions – “Do we have everything?” “What else do we need?”

Bearing in mind that we sell around 100 burgers and sammiches every Sunday at the market, 700 burgers is basically just seven weekends. Rolled into one. My back buckles at the thought of being hunched over a massive grill for so long. But I’m excited too! I can’t wait to see over 300 people make The Brownie Face and taste our burgers, which I am convinced are the best in Joburg. We’re keeping it simple – a gourmet cheeseburger with handmade mayonnaise. YUM.
